How we work
At Belhams Interiors, we specialise in bespoke interior design services, tailored to your project and needs. The first step in the process is to schedule a Discovery Call. This is a complimentary, 15-minute phone conversation where we can touch base about what you’re looking for and you can get a feeling about who we are as interior designers. This is the perfect start, particularly if you have never worked with an interior designer. You probably have quite a few questions!
Once we’ve had our Discovery Call the next step is the Design Consultation.This stage of the interior design process is our first two-hour formal design consultation. At this consultation we talk through what you need from us. We explore what you love and don’t love about your space. How you currently live, how you’d like to live, what works and what absolutely doesn’t. We’ll gather your wish list and define your budget. We’ll start to get a feeling for the outcomes you’re looking to achieve and the best way to go about achieving them. Following our Design Consultation, we’ll provide you with a formal Interior Design Proposal outlining the full scope of work and our fees to complete your project.
This stage of the interior design process is where we gather and refine ideas to develop a unique design concept, tailored to your needs. We bring together our creative thinking and expertise. The Design Phase includes the concept development; spacial planning; preparation of floor plans, elevations and a 3D model; design custom elements such as joinery and wall paneling; sourcing; selection of fixtures, finishes, appliances and lighting; and preparation of the final presentation of working drawings and specifications. The cost of this phase is determined by your scope and requirements established at our design consultation. Once the concept design is ready, we present the design to you for your review and feedback. Your feedback will be incorporated into your design and we prepare your final drawings and specification documents.
Once the design has been approved by you the next step is to obtain all the relevant quotations and source all of the required products/furnishings. Once these are ready, we present the costings to you for your review and approval.
Following design and costing approval, the next stage in the process is the Installation Phase which is tailored to suit your project. This phase is charged at an hourly rate and may include all or some of the following:
- Briefing trades with design drawings and specifications
- Liaising with trades and suppliers on the design, timeline, and budget
- Regular site visits to ensure the design intent is upheld
- Co-ordinating the delivery of procured items
- Managing any defects or damage
The final stage in your project is the Completion Phase where all work will be signed off. You will be provided with all the relevant care, warranty, and maintenance information for each specified product.
Review Plans
We work with your architect or draftsperson to review electrical plans, window placement, and space planning so that every detail is planned in advance and functions specifically for you. We bring as many of your decisions forward to ensure materials can be ordered in a timely manner.
Interior Design
Let us guide you in selecting materials and arranging their placement for both the interior and exterior of your home, ensuring a seamless and stunning aesthetic that extends throughout your living space.
Finishes & Furniture Selection
We’ll help you choose wallpapers, paint colours, lighting and their placement to create a beautiful and cohesive home inside and out. We select and recommend the furnishings you need in your home, incorporating any heirloom or sentimental pieces you have already.
1:1 Consultations
We help select all of the furnishings you need in your home from sofas to dining chairs and everything in between, incorporating any heirloom or sentimental pieces you have in the process. We can also arrange any re-upholstery of existing pieces before you move in.
Project Management
We’ll handle all of the details of the process from start to finish to ensure that everything is organised, ordered, on time, and on track.
Styling + Installation
Once you have moved in, or even on moving day, our styling team comes in for the finishing touches to elevate your design and tell your story; we like to think of it as the cherry on top.

Full-Service Interior Design entails managing larger-scale projects, including in-person consultations, comprehensive project oversight, site visits, furniture procurement, and hands-on installation. Virtual Interior Design, on the other hand, offers a flexible, remote approach focusing on one space at a time, crafting custom design plans and shopping lists for implementation at your own pace and within your budget constraints.
Virtual Interior Design projects typically span three to four months for an entire house and two to six weeks for single rooms. Implementation timelines vary based on your schedule. Full-Service Interior Design projects can take one to two years, contingent upon project complexity and builder timelines.

We offer both Full-Service Interior Design and Virtual Interior Design, each with its own pricing structure. Our Virtual Interior Design is available at a flat rate, ensuring transparency and simplicity. Full-Service Interior Design is priced hourly, varying based on project complexity.
