Visualising in 3d
Did you know that 80% of people struggle to visualize?
As interior designers, it’s our job to visualise for our clients, but even more importantly; it’s our job to help our clients find ways to visualise the changes they want to make in their home or workplace for themselves.
We have many strategies to do this including mood boards, flat lays, photographs and sketches, however this month we want to tell you about our 3D visualisation tool and some of the reasons our clients love it!
Seeing in scale

Have you ever found yourself asking questions like “will our current sofa fit into our new home?” or “will this pendant look too big over our dining table?” Or wonder “is there space to put the dishwasher next to the sink?”.
If so then you’re asking questions that deal with scale and proportion. 3D models allow our clients to see things to scale and give them the ability to confidently buy the bigger pendant or decide against putting the dishwasher next to the sink if it’s not going to fit (or downsizing the dishwasher if that’s an option).

Seeing together
You’ve chosen your paint colours, flooring options, wallpapers, furniture and fixtures. But what does it all look like together? Will the blue and white block patterned wallpaper dominate the room? Will the art we already have work with it?
3D modelling can help our clients see what the materials, textures, colours, furnishings and décor will look like all together to know if it will work before committing.
3D modeling empowers our clients to make decisions confidently, being assured that the end result will be functional and beautiful!

Seeing before deciding
3D Model

Reality

Our 3D model visualisation tool helped us trial different pendant options in the example photographed above. To help our client stick to their budget, we made a joint decision to reduce the number of pendants and to fill the gaps with greenery at a lower cost, while also adding a bit of life and colour to the space. In the 3D model we noticed that the pendants where blocking some of the feature wallpaper behind them which meant we knew we needed to hang them higher to avoid covering the wallpaper too much.
This example shows that we had the ability to fine tune the design before anything was purchased. It helped us to ensure we stayed on budget while not compromising the end result.
Have fun visualising your new space!
